Social Welfare / VSJF
Charitable activities have an important place in Jewish tradition. The Jewish law of Tzedakah places all Jewish men and women under the same duty to perform charitable acts. The SIG also espouses this principle.

Founded in 1908 as a loose association, it was integrated into the SIG in 1925 as the umbrella organisation for all Jewish groups caring for the poor. Since 1943 it has operated under the name ‘Association of Swiss Jewish Refugee Aid and Welfare Organisations [VSJF].
As in the past, the VSJF continues to offer assistance to Jewish travellers and to Jewish people who are in most cases not members of any community. It is the contact point for the Claims Conference in Switzerland. It also operates in the asylum field.
