The Central Committee

The Central Committee (CC) is elected by the delegates to the SIG and represents the latter in the periods between the annual Delegate Assemblies.

  • The CC follows up the activities of the Board of Directors and the General Secretary and petitions the Delegate Assembly to approve the SIG’s business activities.
  • It deals with, respectively decides upon the inclusion or exclusion of communities and may take decisions on matters of common interest to the members.
  • It can apply for amendments to the articles of association and decides on the purchase or sale of properties.
  • It moreover lays the ground for delegate assembly elections.

Four sessions per year

The CC meets four times a year, always jointly with the Board of Directors. These sessions serve not only to handle the tasks as per the articles of association, but also to exchange opinions and discuss current topics.

The CC currently has 29 members, who represent their communities. The President of the CC is Dr. David Jeselsohn (Jewish Community Zurich ICZ), the two Vice Presidents are Brigitte Halpern (Jewish Congregation of Berne) and Pierre Ezri (Jewish Community of Lausanne and the Canton of Vaud). Together, these three are referred to as the CC Office.
