Teaching Aids Jeled
The SIG has acquired the JELED package of teaching resources developed by the Federation of Dutch Jewish Communities and adapted it for the religious schools of the Jewish communities of German speaking Switzerland. This consists of 65 workbooks for Jewish religious education at primary school level, and also the Internet site www.jeled.net for children, parents and teaching staff. The website is a joint project of the SIG and the Federation of Dutch Jewish Communities.

The package of resources contains the following modules: cut-out sheets, colouring sheets, stories, gapped texts and games for the primary school and more demanding worksheets with sources texts for the junior school. All workbooks are fully illustrated. The modular construction of the material makes it possible to teach mixed-age and mixed-experience groups at the same time and let the children work independently. For teaching staff, there is a set of teaching notes with didactic suggestions for all the workbooks.

In the Internet: JELED.net
JELED.net is the Internet site for the SIG’s Jewish educational programme. It complements the printed teaching material. Here, children can find useful things to know about Jewish topics and can download and print out web-based games and cut-out sheets. The website provides parents with background knowledge on the Jewish holidays and lots of ideas to help them prepare for the Shabbat and holidays in the family. These include stories to read aloud, quartet games, colouring sheets for the little ones and puzzles to solve.
"Parsha under the microscope" - Online teaching resources: For parents with children about to become a Bar or Bat Mitzvah there is a collection of worksheets on the weekly Torah section to help prepare for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah address.
Teaching staff can access the teacher’s pages by using a password. These pages contain didactic suggestions for religious education and further teaching material which can be printed out.
A French language version of the printed teaching material and the Internet pages is at planning stage.
